Works of contemporary Ukrainian artists will be exhibited for the first time at the London world famous auction house Sotheby’s.
At the auction June 9th, 2009 will display 20 works of Ukrainian artists, including paintings by Vasily Tsagolova, Oleg Tistol, Ilya Chichkan, Igor Gusev, Maxim Mamsikova, Victor Pokidantsa, Alexandra Roytburda, Alexandra Gnilitskiy, Vlad Ralko, Arsen Savadov, Marina Skugarevoy, Paul Macovei, Oksana Mas, Nicholas Matsenko.

The painting by Ivan Aivazovsky “Ukrainian harvest ” in 1857, cost 510 - 650 thousand dollars (350 - 450 thousand pounds), was the most expensive lot in London on 9 June auction of Russian painting and decorative art house Christie’s. It will be put up for auction 199 lots.

It turns out that not only the cinema can borrow some of the quality of the fine arts, and vice versa. David Hockney, 71-year-old British painter, classic of pop-art, recognized that he uses iPhone for sketches and small works. “I like to paint bouquets on iPhone, and then send it to friends for they had fresh flowers. And they do not wilt,” - quoted the AFP artist. Daily Mail Newspaper also notes that Hockney also sends to his friends illustrated lectures on art.
